A preview of IAC’s upcoming American Art Conference, Multiple Modernities, May 9 – 11, 2024, appeared in American Fine Art Magazine’s May/June 2024 Issue. Commenting on the program, Lisa Koenigsberg, founder and president of IAC, observed: “It’s an extraordinary gathering of people coming together with all different perspectives and points of view and various approaches to that pesky word ‘modern’.” Also discussed is the cross-disciplinary approach central to IAC’s mission and employed by Koenigsberg who, the author noted, “is a staunch believer that the juiciest fodder for the intellect—and what enhances one’s appreciation for art—lies in connectivity, in finding and seeing areas of overlap and cross-pollination despite the tendency of the human mind to compartmentalize.”

The conference was intentionally scheduled to coincide with the American Art Fair and New York’s American Art Week. This timing means that in addition to attending formal sessions at Heritage Auctions, conference participants will be guests of The American Art Fair’s invitation-only Gala Preview. Additionally, on Thursday, May 9, attendees are invited to an exclusive preview of Heritage Auctions’ Spring American Art Sale. On Saturday, May 11, conference attendees will attend a private viewing and tour of the exhibition “American Artists in Paris, Artists Working in Postwar France, 1946 – 1962” at the newly reopened and renamed Grey Art Museum at NYU, led by curators Debra Bricker Balken and Lynn Gumpert, the Museum’s director.
