The American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed the obverse and reverse of the double-eagle, a twenty-dollar gold coin produced by the United States Mint from 1907 to 1933. It is considered by many to be the most beautiful of U.S. coins. The coin’s design clearly relates to some of Saint-Gaudens’s works.
