IAC’s American Art Conference

IAC’s American Art Conference is the foremost in the field, and likely the longest running. These conferences challenge prevailing cognitive approaches to art history with a view towards broadening horizons. We pride ourselves on looking beyond the Canon, on exploring works and artists underrepresented in (or even ignored by) major museums, private collections, and coffee table books, and considering why that might be so. We also explore techniques and materials, an understanding of which can be crucial to gaining a more complete appreciation of particular works.

The conferences seamlessly blend talks, panel discussions, private gallery visits and other viewing opportunities, drawing a diverse audience of artists, patrons, gallerists, scholars, curators, art consultants, and collectors.
