IAC’s Arts & Crafts Conference

Each year, IAC’s Arts & Crafts Conference travels to a different American city. Since 2005, we’ve crisscrossed the nation, exploring (and reveling in) the diverse geographic manifestations of the Movement. And in our travels, we have been graciously welcomed in numerous private homes and collections generally inaccessible to the public.

We consider a broad spectrum of styles to fall within the Movement, and maintain that it is less particularities of style than the Movement’s ethos, principles, and ideals that define it. Our focus is decorative arts and architecture. While at root utilitarian, each tells us much about society, its structure, and its mores.

Presenters and participants include collectors, preservationists, art and architectural historians, artisans, and academics.
